My company logo and its development

I wanted my company logo to be simple but showcase exactly what my company was about. I knew that I didn't want any bright or neon-like colours as they didn't follow the aesthetic of the business which was more dark and serious. The idea I had for my logo was to appear unusual with weird features. I created my logo using a mouse on Photoshop.

I didn't want to use the initials of my business, and wanted to show my creativeness. I first created an alien head like shape with a thick white line so that it would stand out against the black background. Using white against a black background makes the image stand out and be very eye-catching.

Once I had a shape that I was happy with, I began to add the details. My logo was going to be a face, so I then thought of what different types of ears there were. Something that I want to specialise in within my business is horns, and so I thought it would be good to instead replace one ear with a horn to make my logo more asymmetric and odd and to show the specialty of my business. I created an elongated ear for the other side, alike to an elf ear.

I really enjoyed the asymmetrical look of my logo so far, and so I decided to carry it on through the rest of the process. I next began to fill in the face. Something that I want to include in the things that I will be able to create for customers are fangs, so rather than use a line for a mouth or include no mouth at all, I used two identical white fangs for the mouth. I then used a solid white circle for one of the eyes as I wished to make the other one stand out both in its colour and shape.

Finally, to finish my logo, I used the lasso tool to make a wild and elongated shape that resembled a scar where the other eye would have been. I filled the lasso with a dark red, the only colour that was on the logo. All of the things that were used in my logo are things that I wish to make for customers.

I decided to make two variants of my logo, one with my company name and one without. The one that has the company name on it will be used on every other thing that is associated with the business other than the website - the logo that doesn't have the name on it will be used for my website. I made this decision because I felt that when I used the logo with writing, it looked too clunky and so I remade it without text.
